This investigation, which was launched by Sinergia Animal in July 2020, shows cruelty towards hens; the animals were exploited by one of the main egg suppliers of the Chilean food giant Carozzi. The images show thousands of hens confined in crowded battery cages in filthy barns. Investigators also documented serious environmental and social problems. Neighbors were forced to live with constant infestations of flies and bad odors. By the time of the investigation, the farm was in its last days of operation after years of complaints made by the locals, and 30,000 hens had to be culled.
