CHILEAN DAIRY FARMS

2019-08-01

In 2019, Sinergia Animal's investigators exposed the brutal treatment of calves in the Chilean dairy industry. Right after being born, babies are moved to individual crates, where they are kept isolated for up to 3 months. Veal crates are considered one of the cruelest practices for animals and have been banned in the European Union and various US states. Calves are prevented from socializing with others, moving freely and having contact with their mothers. Cows don't have the opportunity to nurse their babies, not even once. It was also found that many male calves were intentionally malnourished, and some died from starvation because they are considered a burden to the dairy industry.
